Lucca train station serves the entire city and commune of Lucca, in the Tuscany region of central Italy. Opened in 1846, it is part of the Viareggio-Florence Railway and the intersection of the route to Pisa and Aura. All of these lines are serviced only by regional trains.
The station is currently managed by Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (RFI). However, the commercial area of the passenger terminal is managed by Centostazioni. Trenitalia offers a train service to and from the station. These companies are subsidiaries of the Italian state-owned railway company Ferrovie dello Stato (FS).
The Lucca train station is not serviced by fast trains and therefore lacks a full range of facilities. This situation is common in the main stations in Italy.
But this is enough to meet the needs of most travelers, the station has ticket offices, station cafes, waiting rooms and so on. In recent years, the Lucca station has also been refurbished, so this is one of the most attractive stations in Italy, and now has a new platform and lifts connected to the entrances and exits.
