Waverley Railway Station is the main railway station serving Edinburgh, Scotland. It is the northern terminus of the East Coast Main Line, 632 km from King's Cross Station in London, but some trains operated by the London Northeast Railway continue to travel to other Scottish destinations outside Edinburgh.
The service to and from Edinburgh Waverley is operated primarily by Abellio ScotRail, including four routes to Glasgow. The station is the terminus of the West Coast Main Line Edinburgh Station for Virgin Train and TransPennine Express services. The long-distance intercity train to England is operated by CrossCountry to destinations such as York, Leeds, Birmingham, Bristol and Plymouth.
The Waverley station is located in a steep, narrow valley between the medieval old town and the 18th century New Town. The premier shopping street – Princes Street is close to its north side. The Waverley Bridge is located on the west side of the station.
